During the dry fall season, it's especially important to take care of your skin. If neglected, your skin can age rapidly. So, what can you do to prevent this?


The fall weather is very dry, mainly due to cold high-pressure systems moving down from the north, which reduces moisture in the air. This leads to an imbalance of oil and moisture in the skin, damaging the skin barrier and accelerating aging. The significant temperature fluctuations also play a role. While the sun shines strongly during the day, cold winds blow at night, making the skin more prone to fatigue and sensitivity.


Because skin aging progresses more quickly in the fall due to the dry air, moisturizing is crucial. To prevent this, it’s important to use a moisturizer suited to your skin type. Apply enough of it to create a protective barrier.






Products containing ingredients like petroleum jelly, mineral oils, and silicones, which act as moisture-sealing agents, are effective because they prevent moisture from evaporating, helping to keep it locked in the skin. Glycerin, which retains moisture, is another beneficial ingredient as it helps protect the skin barrier by preventing the breakdown of the lipid layer between skin cells. Ceramides, which are also essential lipids in the skin's outer layer, can be beneficial too.





For those with oily skin, however, creams containing excess oils may clog pores, so it's better to opt for gel-based moisturizers that are free of oils. It’s also important to avoid over-cleansing your skin to allow for a small amount of oil to remain.


If you want hydrated, glowing skin, it's also important to eat foods that support skin hydration. Among various vegetables, tomatoes are particularly good for skin health. They contain vitamin P, which helps improve blood circulation, ensuring that nutrients are delivered to the skin. They also contain a lot of vitamin H, which, when deficient, can cause issues like dry scalp and increased skin flakes.




Additionally, tomatoes contain lycopene, a compound that protects the skin from UV damage. Studies have shown that groups who regularly consumed lycopene had 30% better skin resistance to UV exposure than those who did not.




Pumpkins, especially aged ones, also offer great skin benefits. They are rich in beta-carotene, vitamin B2, and vitamin C, which help prevent skin dryness, inflammation, and fine lines.




Strawberries are another fruit that is essential for skincare. They contain more vitamin C than apples and oranges, which helps reduce oxidative stress caused by fatigue or stress, thus preventing skin aging. Eating strawberries with milk enhances nutrient absorption, making the benefits even greater.
